Is this a Cat6 Ethernet cable or Cat6a?

This is a Cat6 Ethernet cable. It’s designed for gigabit networking and rated up to 1 Gbps with a 500 MHz maximum frequency.

What does “flat braided Ethernet cable” mean, and why choose it?

“Flat” refers to the cable shape, which can make routing easier in tight paths like baseboards and behind furniture. “Braided” refers to the outer jacket, which helps the cable feel more durable and less prone to tangling than many standard jackets.

Will this Cat6 cable work with my router, modem, or switch?

Yes. It uses standard RJ45 connectors, so it works with common network ports on routers, modems, switches, PCs, gaming consoles, and smart TVs.

Is it backward compatible with Cat5e and Cat5 equipment?

Yes. It will work with Cat5e and Cat5 devices because the RJ45 interface is the same. Your connection speed will be determined by the slowest link in the chain (device, router/switch port, and internet plan).

Does this Ethernet patch cable help reduce lag for gaming?

A wired Cat6 connection is a dependable choice for gaming because it provides a stable link between your device and the router or switch. It can help reduce Wi-Fi variability, though actual performance still depends on your network hardware and internet service.

Does it support Power over Ethernet (PoE)?

Yes. It supports PoE for compatible devices. Make sure your PoE switch or injector and the powered device match the PoE standard you’re using.

Which length should I choose?

Pick the shortest length that reaches comfortably without pulling tight.1 ft or 3 ft: great for router-to-modem, switch-to-router, or short desk runs6 ft or 8 ft: common for desktops and nearby wall jacks10 ft or 12 ft: useful when routing around a desk or entertainment center15 ft: good for longer room-edge runs25 ft: best when the network point is farther away and you want one clean run

Can I run a flat Ethernet cable under carpet or through a doorway?

The flat profile can help with low-clearance routing, but it’s best to avoid placing any cable where it can be pinched, crushed, or repeatedly stepped on. For cleaner results, route along baseboards or use cable clips or a raceway.

What do “gold-plated pins” do in real use?

Gold-plated pins are designed to support consistent contact at the port. This can be especially useful when cables are plugged and unplugged frequently, such as with laptops, consoles, and test setups.

Is this cable intended for outdoor use?

This product is built for typical indoor networking and cable management. If you need an outdoor run, choose an outdoor-rated Ethernet cable designed for UV and weather exposure.
